More than 325 family forest landowners from twenty-one states across the country will gather at this year’s FLA Family Forest Business conference at the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.  With a five-star host resort amid the vast Georgia wood basket and an encouraging political and business climate in Washington, FLA’s Family Forest Business Conference promises to be one of the best ever. When FLA members gather for the annual conference they will do so amid an upbeat economy and a Congress and White House administration receptive to the needs of landowners. Not only that, the conference will take place in Georgia, the No.1 state in terms of forest production, and the home of FLA’s headquarters, and 23 percent of FLA’s membership.

FLA’s conference is the only venue that brings together family forest landowners, forest businesses, forest consultants, and stakeholders to focus not only on sustaining private forests but sustaining the people who own them. We understand strong and diversified markets are key to your family forest legacy. FLA’s conference focuses specifically on the management and profitability of your forest lands while providing an atmosphere for the benefit of the whole family.

“We have to be vigilant in our efforts to promote free and open markets for the timber of our members and continue to promote that the U.S. is the wood basket of the world.” FLA CEO Scott Jones.

In addition to a strong focus on growth in markets for U.S. wood, the conference will focus on reducing the regulatory burden of landowners and incentive programs for conservation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state agencies. Representatives from five state fish and wildlife agencies involved in the crucial role states play in keeping species off the endangered list who will share how private landowners can become engaged in state efforts.
