Issues
The Forest Landowners Association (FLA) provides national leadership on issues important to non-industrial private forest landowners. Through issue statements, FLA voices its official stand on issues relating to federal regulatory policy and legislation affecting private forest landowners. These issue statements always act to improve conditions for private forest landowners at all levels. FLA reaches these positions through the membership based on member input, via their FLA representatives (e.g., FLA board and government affairs committee), and FLA issue specific experts. Issue statements may set forth goals and recommendations or address a solution to ongoing and/or future problems relating to private forests. Issue statements are far-reaching statements for the education of congressional staff, executive branch staff, media, professionals, and others immersed in the subject issue of the position. The FLA does not take a position on every issue affecting private forests. However, when the FLA does take a position, the issue statement is meant to clarify and inspire action on a specific issue.
