FLA Annual Advocacy Day, Advancing forest landowners federal legislative priorities:
Taking Forest Landowners to Capitol Hill
On September 14, a group of 44 engaged Forest Landowner Association members represented 10 million others by expressing their beliefs about environmental regulation, the estate tax, Softwood Lumber Agreement enforcement, and Boiler MACT. Forest landowners provided real-life and on-the-ground insights for reasons to these key issues must be addressed to ensure the sustainability of America’s private forest landowner.
Prior to heading to hill, FLA members were briefed on the issues by numerous experts including Dick Patton of the American Family Business Institute, Dave Tenny of NAFO and Zoltan van Heyningen and Steve Swanson with the US Lumber Coalition. A full list of the issues that were covered in the briefing session and lobbied by our members can be found here.
On this particular day, the voice of the private landowner was heard and your rights were advocated for in an effective and professional manner. Our thanks go to those who participated and to those who weren’t able to attend the Fly-In this year, please consider joining us in 2012—a year that will prove to be a pivotal one for the nation and for the private forest landowner.
