Open Space Institue Studying Forestland Ownership
July 7, 2010
With timber prices down, forestland transactions slowed, and continuing uncertainty about a range of issues - the value of biomass, the impacts of invasive species and climate change, to name a few - landowners and policy-makers alike are searching for direction in the timber patch. The Open Space Institute (OSI) is conducting research to help diverse stakeholders plan for the future. OSI's Private Forestland Planning Collaborative will help set an agenda for keeping the largest private forest ownerships in forest-use.
FLA CEO Scott Jones is participating on the Advisory Committee for this project. He was recently quoted in a press release from OSI.
