Forest Landowner Foundation Programs
The Forest Landowner Foundation awards scholarships annually to students enrolled in American universities and colleges in the pursuit of a natural resources related field and displaying an effort to improve non-industrial, private forest lands. Over $40,500 in scholarships has been awarded since 2002. Students are chosen based on academic achievement, professional involvement, and merit.
The Foundation also funds an in-depth, day-long Tax Workshop, which is presented in conjunction with the National Forest Landowners Conference each year. Attendees learn the latest updates in the IRS tax code, timber tax planning, preparation techniques, and much more.
Woodlands Management Course: A Guide to Improving Our Forests
In 2009, the Foundation released the book Woodlands Management Course, a guide to forestry management activities for landowners who do not have an extensive background in forestry. The book educates landowners on options for managing their forests, the benefits and costs of forest management, how to organize activities to meet their objectives, and finding professional foresters to manage their chosen activities.
