Activity: Steve and Kitty Quina enrolled in the Forest Stewardship Program in 1997. Since then they have made great progress toward their primary objective of restoring native plant communities for the purposes of enhancing aesthetic value and wildlife habitat. With the help of public and private natural resource management professionals, they have successfully established stands of longleaf pine and restored some of the groundcover associated with the high pine ecosystem. Other features of the property include ephemeral ponds which provide important habitat for birds, fish and many other animals. The Quinas are enthusiastic about their forest stewardship and continue to work hard toward their objectives. This will be a walking tour so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Register: A sponsored supper will be served on-site after the tour, sponsors to be announced. This program is free but you must preregister. Call Chris Demers at 352-846-2375 or cdemers@ufl.edu to register. Attendance will be limited so please call soon! We’ll meet at 1:30 PM ET at the property and the tour will begin promptly at 2:00 PM.
