David P. Tenny, President and CEO of the National Alliance of Forest Owners, urged the Senate to help send clear and positive policy signals to the biomass energy community in testimony today before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry at its hearing today entitled, Empowering Rural Communities, the Status and Future of the Farm Bill's Energy and Rural Development.
The National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO) petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider the final PSD Tailoring Rule and stay the implementation of the Rule pending reconsideration. NAFO filed the petition on Friday, July 30, 2010. In addition, today NAFO also filed a petition for judicial review of the Rule with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
Senators Lincoln and Kyl Lead Initiative to Relieve Death Tax Burden
The Forest Landowners Association and the Forest Landowners Tax Council together prepared a letter to Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Jon Kyl (R-AZ) to show support from the forestry community for their initiative to offer relief from the impending 2011 Death Tax reinstatement.
Thank you for signing-on to the biomass and carbon benefits letter to Senators Kerry, Graham, and Lieberman. The final letter had 98 signatures ranging from forestry (landowners, paper, loggers, foresters), utilities, bioenergy groups, wildlife conservation, and agriculture.
The Land Report Magazine, mailed to landowners across the country, featured the Forest Landowners Association (FLA) in its Spring 2010 issue.
