FLA Live Oak Meeting—A Great Success!
The Live Oak, Florida regional meeting was attended by over fifty forest landowners and forestry consultants. Experts in the fields of wildlife management, varietal seedlings, and forest markets enlightened an engaged audience. The meeting concluded with an update on Florida forestry issues and a review of critical federal issues by FLA CEO Scott Jones. Scott summarized the unique link FLA provides for 11 million forest landowners (regardless of their size, certification status, or location) to Congress and regulatory agencies.
Another highlight of the meeting included the personal experience of Jeff Lageman, a forest landowner and FLA member. Lageman is the current announcer for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and a former NFL player. Lageman gave his insights into family values and personal satisfaction provided by forestland ownership. We hope to include Jeff on the agenda at the 2012 Annual Meeting. You may want to mark your calendar now for next year’s Annual Meeting May 30 - June 1, 2012 at the Sawgrass Marriott at Ponte Vedra, FL.
For the 2012 regional meetings, we’ll publish a schedule of meetings throughout the country as we continue to inform, educate, and engage the membership. Look for more information on the 2012 schedule in December.
